3D Technology and Periodontal Surgery
When it comes to surgery, we understand that patients like to know what they are about to experience.
At Kenneth M. Lubritz, DDS Periodontics & Dental Implants, we find that using a 3D technology not only provides a clear picture for the surgeon, but it also helps patients understand the nature of their problem. 3D technology allows us to reduce treatment time and deliver more comfortable and precise service.
This advanced 3D technology is available in office, so patients can save time and money by not having to go to another facility to have the scan and then return for the analysis and treatment plan. All of this can now be done in our office in one visit!
Technology for Implants and Crowns
3D imaging lets us see all of your teeth and surrounding structures from any angle. We have used this technology to discover various pathologies that neither our patients nor their medical doctors were aware of. We mainly use our 3D digital CT x-ray machine for our implant planning. With this technology, we can avoid important structures to assure a safe surgical experience. It also allows us to precisely place an implant through computer guided surgery in less surgical time and with more safety than traditional surgery. This 3D scanner allows us to place an implant where there is minimal bone, while surgeries without this advanced technology may not.
Additionally, 3D scanners allow for impression free fabrication of implant crowns. This alleviates the need for impressions and saves appointment time, since the restoring dentist can scan the digital impression and send to the lab via email. By planning the crown first, we can design the entire implant system (implant body, abutment, and crown) for long-term success.
Benefits for Patients
The patient benefits from less radiation as well as the comfortable, open environment. Aside from the physical comfort of this system, we can share a visual diagnosis with our patients, making them more comfortable with their treatment plan and actively participate in their care. The speed of the scan and the immediate results allow our doctors and patients to communicate the aspects of a case better.
Today, more accurate treatment planning and more predictable outcomes are possible with 3D technology. It allows our doctors to visualize anatomy that cannot be diagnosed externally or in a 2-dimensional traditional x-ray image. Reducing the length and cost of your dental therapy while at the same time providing excellent dental healthcare is important to us.
